A Real Turkish Breakfast Comes to Reno, Every Sunday at The Jesse

There is a certain kind of morning that Turkish culture has perfected, and it does not involve rushing. A Turkish breakfast, or kahvaltı, is less a meal and more a slow, generous ritual. The whole table fills with small plates before you have ordered a single thing. Cheeses, olives, eggs, honey, warm bread, jam, fresh vegetables, and endless tea. You sit, you share, you linger. Nobody is in a hurry to be anywhere.

Starting Sunday, July 12, we are bringing that ritual to downtown Reno. Every Sunday, The Jesse will serve a full Turkish breakfast spread on our patio, paired with bottomless mimosas and an unhurried pace that fits the morning perfectly.

What Makes a Turkish Breakfast Different

If your idea of breakfast is a single plate with eggs and toast, a Turkish breakfast will surprise you. The whole point is variety and abundance. Instead of one dish, you get a spread of many small ones, all arriving at once and meant to be shared across the table.

It is built around balance. Something salty next to something sweet. Something rich next to something fresh. A bite of briny olives, then creamy cheese, then honey with clotted cream on warm bread. Tea keeps the whole thing going, poured again and again as the conversation stretches on.

More than the food, it is the pace that makes it special. A proper Turkish breakfast is meant to take a while. It is the kind of meal you plan your whole Sunday morning around, not something you grab on the way out the door.

What’s on the Table at The Jesse

Every Sunday, our spread includes:

  • Simit, the sesame crusted bread rings you find on every street corner in Istanbul, crisp outside and soft in the middle
  • A selection of cheeses, from mild white cheese to aged and everything in between
  • Aegean olives, cured and briny
  • Spreads and jars, house made and seasonal
  • Bal kaymak, honey and clotted cream served together, the richest and most talked about thing on the table
  • Turkish style eggs, soft and gently spiced, made for scooping with bread
  • Gozleme with sucuk, a thin folded flatbread filled with spiced Turkish sausage and cooked to order

It is a lot of food, and that is the idea. You are meant to leave full, happy, and a little slower than when you arrived.

Bottomless Mimosas and a Sunny Patio

No Sunday brunch is complete without something sparkling, so every Turkish breakfast at The Jesse comes with the option to add bottomless mimosas. Fresh juice, cold bubbles, and one of the best outdoor patios in downtown Reno to enjoy them on.

Our patio is one of those spaces that just works on a Sunday morning. Open air, plenty of light, and far enough from the noise of the casinos to feel like a real escape. Pull up a chair, pour another mimosa, and stay as long as you like. That is exactly the point.

For the launch on July 12, bottomless mimosas are on us. Complimentary for our very first breakfast service, as a thank you to everyone who comes out to celebrate with us.

Why Reno Is Ready for This

Reno’s food scene has grown up fast, and Turkish and Mediterranean flavors are quietly becoming part of it. You can already find Turkish eggs on brunch menus around town, and şakşuka has started showing up on local menus too. People here are getting curious about these flavors, and they are ready for more.

What Reno has not had yet is the full experience. Not one dish borrowed from the tradition, but the whole table, done properly. That is the gap we wanted to fill. Our kitchen has always drawn from Greek and Turkish cooking, so a Turkish breakfast is a natural extension of what we already do. It just happens to be something the city has never really seen before.

Join Us for the Launch, Sunday July 12

We are treating our first Sunday as a proper celebration. Here is what to know:
